We spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in San Francisco. The location is fantastic - close to Union Square with restaurants and shopping, close to the Bart and cable cars, and it has a charming feel to it (historic building, cozy spaces). Our king room was smaller than the one pictured but did give us enough space to move around. I wish the lighting had been a bit brighter; especially in the bathroom with a high ceiling and only a ceiling light, it was hard for me to do my makeup (ok, I am in my 50s lol) Convenient continental breakfast is offered on each floor and during our stay they also offered a complimentary glass of wine in the lobby from 5-6 pm. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the on-site restaurant had lovely desserts (we didn't eat dinner but it was always busy and smelled delicious). Wifi is a bit slow, but in an older building I think that is to be expected. I would definitely stay here again.

At check-in, I was greeted by a gentleman who was reading a book in his spare time - always a sign that I'm in a good place. I asked if I could get a meal at the restaurant, and he called over the hostess who told me to come down in 20 minutes and she'd take care of me - which she did. The food was spectacular, and the bartender treated me like family. It was the best introduction to a hotel I've had in years. I had to write a grant proposal on deadline so I spent nearly all of my first day in my room. It was terrific; while the Continental breakfast ran out before I got there because I didn't understand it was set on that dresser in the hall, the coffee kept me writing and I finished on schedule. (The next morning I got up earlier and was rewarded). I really enjoyed everything about the hotel and will definitely be back.

This place was quiet, comfortable, and quaint. We enjoyed learning the history of this building, the very kind and accommodating staff, and the amazing restaurant downstairs. This place was very clean and comfortable. Gave a little AHS vibes (which we loved!). The ease of maneuvering around the building for parking and loading was great. Everything about our stay was superior. We will definitely be back.

Communication with the staff was good and timely. They helped us to find an oversized parking and gave us other good tips. Liked the old fashion style of the place. The elevator is super cool! Shower had strong water pressure. We appreciated the cosmetics and hair dryer in the bathroom. Good selection of pastries for breakfast but that was it.

The room was fairly basic but comfortable. Good bed and pillows. Once you get over the initial location (lots of homeless around this area and in the alleyway next to the hotel), its actually very convenient. Although I wouldn't be looking to walk around the hotel too late. But in the day it seemed OK and great for Chinatown and Union Square.
